LINEAR EQUATIONS
- Linear equation in one variable: An equation of the form ax+b=0 or, ax=b, where a and b are real numbers such that a is not equal to zero, is called linear equation in one variable, e.g. 2x+3=0, 7x=14 etc.
- Linear equation in two variable: An equation of the form ax+by+c=0 or ax+by=c, where a, b, c are real numbers, a and b are not equal to zero and x,y are variables, is called Linear equation in two variable, e.g. 3x+5y+10=0, 6x+2y=5 etc.
- The graph of linear equation is a straight line.
- A linear equation has infinitely many solutions.
- The equation of x-axis and y-axis are y=0 and x=0 respectively.
